Innocence Quest

Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.

Inferno/III/9

This series of 9 paintings, echoing the 9 circles of Dante’s Hell, illustrates the steps that the victim goes through after the trauma.

If Dante’s imaginary journey is conceived as an initiatory journey toward self-fulfillment, an allegory of the purification of souls leading to inner peace, Innocence Quest is a journey without return into the mind of a being whose reason is altered.

Each painting, in the form of an allegory, describes the psychological state of the victim. Repression, reminiscence, guilt, self-rejection, judgment of others, anger, addictions, hatred and the idea of vengeance.

Innocence Quest attempts to portray the impossibility of reasoning in the face of trauma and the difficulty of finding an escape.
